~~ In Loving Memory ~~

Esther W. COHENOUR, 83, of Mount Union, died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born April 10, 1919, in Rockhill Furnace, she was a daughter of the late Issac W. and Laura B. (Hollibaugh) Workman. She was married to Bernard A. Cohenour Dec. 14, 1939, at Orbisonia. Mr. Cohenour preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1998.

Three children survive; James A. Cohenour, Mount Union; Richard R. Cohenour, Three Springs, R.R.; and Eileen C. Smith, Mount Union. R.R. There are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister and two brothers survive; Zada Shapiro of Mount Union, currently residing in Michigan; Paul Workman of York; and Willard Workman of Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Workman and Edgar Workman; two sisters. Doris Sterner and Edith Copestake; and one stepbrother, Marlin Workman. Mrs. Cohenour attended the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. where she was a member of the Women’s Sunday School class.

She was a member of Mount Union Chapter No. 280 Order of Eastern Star and the Women’s Twentieth Century Club of Mount Union. She was a 1935 graduate of Orbisonia High School. Primarily a homemaker, she also helped manage her father’s business, Workman’s Economy Store, in Orbisonia, Rockhill and Mount Union. She also helped at the Rockhill Post Office when it was located at her fathers store.

She later helped her husband with Cohenour’s Refrigeration Service and Bicycle Repair, Mount Union. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting and sewing. She and her husband enjoyed going to flea markets. Funeral services will he held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Interment will be made at Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia. R.R.
